Steppenwolf co-founder Gary Sinise will join Artistic Director Audrey Francis for a one-night conversation on November 24, 2026. Graceful Warrior: An Evening with Gary Sinise begins at 7:30 p.m. in the company’s Downstairs Theater, 1650 N. Halsted St.
The evening will connect Steppenwolf’s history with Sinise’s forthcoming memoir, Graceful Warrior: The True Story of a Son, a Father and a Family Who Carried Each Other Through. According to the theater’s announcement, the book honors the life and legacy of his son Mac.
The memoir is scheduled for publication November 10, the day Mac would have turned 36. The supplied description places family, creativity, perseverance and care at the center of the story, with Sinise reflecting on how his family supported one another.
The conversation also brings together two generations of Steppenwolf’s ensemble. Sinise co-founded the company with Terry Kinney and Jeff Perry in 1974, while Francis joined the ensemble in 2017 and now leads the theater alongside Glenn Davis.
Tickets are listed at $70, including a $10 handling fee and an autographed copy of the book. Public sales began September 25. Visit Steppenwolf’s event page or call 312-335-1650 for availability.
The theater provides assistive listening devices and wheelchair-accessible seating. Details and specific access requests can be directed through Steppenwolf’s accessibility information.
