Quince joins Cordancia for Courtney Bryan and Steve Reich, October 10–12

Quince Ensemble joins Cordancia Chamber Orchestra for three performances in Western New York October 10–12, pairing Courtney Bryan’s Requiem with Steve Reich’s Tehillim. Evan Meccarello conducts, and Minnesota-based singer Laura Betinis Healy joins Quince for the program.

In its October newsletter, Quince describes Bryan’s piece as a work the ensemble has been singing for several years. Reich’s setting of Psalms is a long-held programming wish for the group. The concerts open Cordancia’s 2026–27 season under the title Their Voices Heard.

Two recent recordings

For listeners outside Western New York, Quince also appears on two September 4 releases. The Approach, Ep. 1–3, by Paul Pinto and Quince Ensemble, presents the opening episodes of Pinto’s song cycle on Gold Bolus Recordings. The recording brings Quince’s voices into a story that starts with four bandmates and a mysterious sailor in New York’s subway system.

On Tomás Gueglio’s Ciclo Lamarque – Part 1: Songs & Madrigals, released by New Focus Recordings, Quince performs the four-part Madrigales del Río. Ensemble Dal Niente and Ekmeles also appear on the album. Both release pages offer a place to listen and explore the full credits.
