An independent journalist weighs the cost of publishing a dangerous story in Vladimir, Erika Sheffer’s political thriller receiving its Midwest premiere with Shattered Globe Theatre. The production began previews October 2 and runs through November 14, 2026, at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave.
Lou Contey directs the opening production of the company’s 36th season. Set as an authoritarian government consolidates power in Russia, the play follows a reporter whose work threatens both her safety and the people who help her. The company’s announcement places the conflict between telling the truth and protecting those sources at the center of the story.
Rebecca Jordan plays Raya, alongside a cast that includes Tristan Odenkirk, Adam Schulmerich, Drew Schad, Steve Peebles, Isabel Alamin, Kseniya Janyan, Juliana Liscio, Laila Malak and Ben Perry. Christopher Kriz provides original music and sound design.
The opening performance is October 8 at 7:30 p.m. The regular schedule is Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., with exceptions listed on the ticket calendar. Running time is approximately two hours and 15 minutes, including an intermission.
An audio-described performance on November 6 includes a 6:15 p.m. touch tour before the 7:30 p.m. curtain. An open-captioned performance is scheduled for November 8 at 3 p.m.
Preview tickets are listed at $25; regular-run tickets range from $20 to $60, with student, military and teacher discounts available. Visit Shattered Globe’s production page for tickets, content advisories and access information.
