A Filipino drag queen plans a debut celebration as he approaches 30 in CIRCA Pintig’s “Debut: Coming of Age in Filipino America,” touring Chicago in November and December.

Nate Cozens wrote the play, and RJ Silva directs. The production follows Jomar as a party meant to mark a new beginning runs into problems with the venue, the food and his family’s ability to meet his demands.

“And while his family is supportive, they struggle to keep up with their diva’s demands,” Nova Entertainment said in its announcement.

The company’s current production page lists performances Nov. 5-9 at Filament Theatre, 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave.; Nov. 12-14 at Bughouse Theater, 1910 W. Irving Park Road; and Dec. 3-4 at the Rizal Center, 1332 W. Irving Park Road.

The Nov. 5 preview and Nov. 6 opening are at 7:30 p.m. Filament’s schedule also includes 2 and 7:30 p.m. performances Nov. 7, a 2 p.m. performance Nov. 8 and a 7:30 p.m. industry performance Nov. 9.

Bughouse performances are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12-13 and 2 p.m. Nov. 14. Both Rizal Center performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Dec. 4 gala performance is listed at $50, including dinner.

The tour’s opening weekend is a co-production through Filament Theatre’s Community Jam program. Tickets for each venue are linked from CIRCA Pintig’s production page.
