Creole Stomp will perform at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre on February 9, 2027, at 7:30 p.m., bringing a program rooted in Louisiana dance music to Arlington Heights.
The group is led by French-speaking Creole fiddler and accordionist Dennis Stroughmatt. According to the venue’s announcement, its repertoire brings contemporary blues and swamp pop into conversation with traditional Cajun and zydeco tunes.
Two-steps, reels and waltzes sit alongside Creole blues and mazurkas in the band’s approach. The announcement emphasizes extended jams and improvisation, reflecting a performance style shaped by dancers as well as concert audiences.
That combination has taken Creole Stomp from the Cajun-zydeco dance circuit to parks, theaters and folk and blues festivals around the United States. For the Metropolis engagement, the focus remains on the exchange between the musicians’ traditional repertoire and the energy of a live room.
The performance is part of Metropolis Presents. The theater is located at 111 W. Campbell St. in downtown Arlington Heights.
