Two estranged friends meet in a failing dive bar, where the cocktails come with visions of the future. That is the starting point for Radical Futures, B.Z. Florida’s new science fiction play opening Factory Theater’s 32nd season.
Kayla Menz directs the world premiere, which begins previews October 9, 2026, at the company’s Rogers Park theater, 1623 W. Howard St. The regular run opens October 16 and continues through November 21.
Developed through Factory’s workshop program, the play uses its increasingly strange visions to examine whether a friendship can survive into any of those possible tomorrows. According to the company’s announcement, it opens a season organized around the desire to keep living and find a place in the world.
The cast includes Eric Frederickson, Bradford Stevens, Squeek Rangel, Annie Beaubien, Hannah Mary Simpson and Matt Chester. The production team includes scenic designer Devin Meske, costume designer Valerie Cambron, lighting designer Piper Kirchhofer and sound designer Gina Montalvo.
Previews are October 9–10 at 7:30 p.m. and October 11 at 3 p.m. Regular performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. An understudy performance is set for November 15 at 3 p.m., followed by an industry-night performance November 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $30. Factory also offers a $150 season flex pass covering six admissions in any combination of its season productions. Visit Factory Theater for the performance calendar and tickets.
