Steven Strafford brings his autobiographical solo show Methtacular! to Metropolis Performing Arts Centre on March 8, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. The performance uses stories, comedy and original songs to revisit three years of methamphetamine addiction while Strafford was pursuing an acting career in Chicago.
The venue’s announcement describes a show about addiction, survival and recovery, including the stories people tell themselves and others while trying to keep their lives together. Strafford is both the writer and performer, with Adam Fitzgerald directing.
The piece has an existing Chicago history: Metropolis notes that it was recorded live at Steppenwolf Theatre in 2019. Strafford’s other writing includes Small Jokes About Monsters and The Match Game, and his acting work has included appearances at Goodman, Marriott, Drury Lane and Steppenwolf.
The March performance takes place at Metropolis, 111 W. Campbell St. in downtown Arlington Heights. Tickets are listed at $25. Visit the show’s event page for ticket availability and final checkout pricing, or call 847-577-2121.
