An artist with a commission and a place to show it has a deadline Thursday. VIA Art Fund lists November 5 as the last day to submit a letter of inquiry for its spring 2027 Artistic Production Grants. The awards range from $25,000 to $100,000. The fund gives a date without specifying a closing hour.
Where the work will meet its audience matters. VIA funds new visual art made for public spaces or unconventional exhibition settings. An individual artist can apply directly. By the time the letter goes in, the project needs a confirmed venue and a letter of support from the host. A U.S.-based artist can propose a project abroad, while an artist based abroad needs a project taking place in the United States, according to the fund’s guidelines.
One earlier award helped produce Simone Leigh’s Sovereignty. The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston commissioned the exhibition for the U.S. Pavilion at the 2022 Venice Biennale.
Applicants start with VIA’s eligibility questions. For this cycle, the public presentation must begin after June 15, 2027. VIA plans to invite a smaller group to submit full applications on December 15. Those applications are due January 25, with award notifications in April.
