French Inhaler’s Practiced Lines offers another route into Chicago’s independent music network. Released August 13, the nine-track recording sits at the intersection of synth-pop, new wave and post-punk identified on the band’s Bandcamp page.
The trio is Ashvin Prakash on vocals and synthesizer, Adam O’Leary on bass and backing vocals, and Zane Chao on drums and percussion. That lineup places electronics alongside a live rhythm section, a useful starting point for listeners approaching the band for the first time.
The release was recorded at West Town Magnetics in December 2025. Brooks Hannon engineered and mixed it, Collin Jordan mastered it at The Boiler Room, and Marcello Gatti created the artwork and layout.
The track list includes “TV LOVE,” “PLASTIC OCEAN,” “AMERICAN DREAM,” “MIDDLE CLASS” and “WHITE NOISE.” A cassette edition connects the release to littleHEADbutt, the Chicago label whose catalog also includes Bussy Kween Power Trip and The Cell Phones.
