BEASTII is a familiar name in SCAPI’s archives. Jennifer Larson joined Scapi Radio in September 2018 to talk about the band, Disappearing Media and what keeps artists working in Chicago. There is more to catch up on now.
The band’s current press kit lists a trio of Jen Dot on vocals and guitar, Kai Black on bass and Stef Roti on drums. It also identifies S L O W B U R N as an upcoming release, with recording underway; a release date has not been announced there.
BEASTII began in 2015 as Dot’s bedroom project, combining live and electronic instruments before developing into a performing band. Its catalog includes Love Harder, Can’t Wait, B.E.A.S.T.I.I. and 2024’s Follower. The press kit describes that last release as a return to darkwave and electronic roots alongside the energy of the band’s live playing.
For readers who remember the radio conversation, or who are discovering BEASTII now, the band’s Bandcamp catalog is the place to start. The press kit also collects music videos and updates on the current lineup.
