Oil Lamp Theater’s 2027 season moves from a wartime correspondence to a bargain with the devil, with four productions scheduled at its current home, 1723 Glenview Road in Glenview. Three- and four-show subscriptions are on sale, according to the company’s October 5 announcement; single tickets go on sale November 2.
Ken Ludwig’s Dear Jack, Dear Louise opens the season February 12–March 21, 2027. Artistic Director Elizabeth Mazur Levin directs the story of a relationship developing through letters during World War II.
Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still follows April 16–May 16, directed by Scott Shallenbarger. The drama centers on a photojournalist and foreign correspondent facing questions about their work, their relationship and what it means to document other people’s suffering.
Jason Robert Brown’s song cycle Songs for a New World runs June 11–July 18, with Christina Ramirez directing and Aaron Kahn serving as music director. Jen Silverman’s dark comedy Witch, directed by Susan Gorman, closes the announced season September 17–October 24.
The usual performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 3 and 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., with additional Wednesday performances and production-specific exceptions.
The season also comes during a transition for the company. Levin says Oil Lamp anticipates opening its new venue in 2028; the announced 2027 performances remain at the Glenview Road theater.
