Chicago, IL (January 19, 2024) – Get ready to immerse yourself in the warmth of community and the Swedish tradition of “fika” as the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce (ACC) proudly presents the return of the Swedish-inspired Fika Fest from February 9 to 11, 2024. This delightful weekend celebration will feature a range of Fika-themed events and promotions, including the beloved Coffee and Hot Cocoa Crawl and The Great Andersonville Puzzle Exchange.
What is “Fika”? The Swedish concept of “fika” is more than just “a coffee and cake break.” It embodies a state of mind where individuals come together, share common interests, and take a moment to relax and socialize. It’s a time to connect with friends, colleagues, and strangers while treating yourself to something cozy.
Coffee and Hot Cocoa Crawl (Saturday, February 10, 10 am – 1 pm): Indulge in the warmth and coziness of Fika with the Coffee and Hot Cocoa Crawl, taking place on Saturday, February 10. Explore two enticing routes featuring specialty offerings, including coffee, hot cocoa, bakery items, and more. Each participant will receive a commemorative mug, and tickets ($25) are available through the Coffee and Hot Cocoa Crawl page. Children under ten are free with a paid attendee (mug not included). Check-in starts at 9 am at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St. in Chicago.

The Great Andersonville Puzzle Exchange (Sunday, February 11, 11 am – 3 pm): Join in the puzzle fun at The Great Andersonville Puzzle Exchange, returning for its fourth year on Sunday, February 11. Bring a puzzle, take a puzzle! Drop off puzzles between 11 – 11:30 am at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St., Chicago. Participate in the Andersonville Puzzle Throw-down for a chance to win a special prize.
Fika-Themed Promotions: Throughout the weekend, Andersonville businesses will feature promotions that embrace the concept of Fika. From comfort food delights to retail therapy, there’s something for everyone.
